Abstract


This research was conducted at the Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of competence and work motivation on nurse performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable in the Tampan Mental Hospital in Riau Province. The population in this study included all nurses at the Tampan Mental Hospital in Riau Province, totaling 141 people. The sampling technique used the Slovin formula so that 104 nurses were selected at the Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province. Primary data were collected by using a questionnaire as an instrument to prove the results of the study. To test the hypothesis in this study was to use path analysis with the help of the IBM SPSS 22 forwindows program.The results of this study concluded that: 1) there is a significant influence of competence on job satisfaction of nurses in Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province, 2) there is a significant influence of work motivation on job satisfaction of nurses at Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province, 3) there is a significant influence of competence on nurse performance Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province, 4) there is a significant effect of work motivation on the performance of nurses at Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province, 5) there is a significant effect of job satisfaction on the performance of nurses in Tampan Mental Hospital, Riau Province. The job satisfaction variable as an intervening variable significantly mediates the indirect relationship between the competency variable and the nurse's performance and the work motivation variable on the nurse's performance.
