MAKNA ALAT MUSIK PADA SENI PERTUNJUKAN RANDAI BAGI MASYARAKAT DI KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI
Abstract
Randai art is one of the traditional cultural performances of the people of Kuantan Singingi Regency. There is a meaning of musical instruments in randai performing arts, such as drums, violins, tambourines and whistles. In general, people and the younger generation only know how to play randai musical instruments, but do not know the meaning contained in randai art. In fact, randai art communicates values and moral messages that describe people's daily lives. The aim of this research is to analyze the meaning of musical instruments in randai performing arts for the people of Kuantan Singingi Regency and to analyze the values contained in the implementation of randai performing arts in Kuantan Singingi Regency.
This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The informants in this research were randai trainers, randai musical instrument players, randai players, community leaders and native Kuantan Singingi people who watched randai performances using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of observation, interviews and documentation. For data analysis techniques, Miles and Huberman interactive data analysis techniques are used. Meanwhile, data validity checking techniques use extended participation and triangulation.
The results of this research show that the meaning of musical instruments in randai performing arts for the people of Kuantan Singingi Regency consists of drums, violins, tambourines and whistles. The drum is a percussion instrument which in randai art has the meaning of regulating the tempo of dance movements in randai. Then the violin instrument in randai art has the meaning of calling people to come see a randai performance. The drum musical instrument is used as musical accompaniment to movements and also as background sound when the player provides dialogue. The violin is also the background music in Randai's story. The tambourine is a musical instrument that is played by beating and shaking. Because this musical instrument will produce sound just by beating and shaking it. The tambourine produces a rattling sound that can be combined with the drumming sound from its membrane. Meanwhile, a whistle is a small tool made of materials such as plastic and wood that makes a loud sound when blown. Then the values contained in the implementation of randai performing arts in Kuantan Singingi Regency. It is hoped that these values can provide lessons to the younger generation regarding the goodness of thinking and behaving positively in society. There are four values contained in randai performing arts, namely educational values, solidarity values, cultural values and social values.
