PERAN WORLD FOOD PROGRAMME (WFP) DALAM MENGATASI KRISIS PANGAN DAN KELAPARAN DI SOMALIA TAHUN 2019-2021

Abstract


This research analyzes the roles of WFP in overcoming the food crisis and hunger in Somalia in 2019-2021. Somalia has long been plagued by food insecurity and is exacerbated by frequent droughts, floods, conflict and poverty. As an international organization, the World Food Program (WFP) is a key player in addressing countries' food crises, providing humanitarian assistance, coordinating emergency response efforts, and implementing long-term sustainable solutions. This thesis reviews the role of WFP in dealing with the food crisis and hunger in Somalia between 2019-2021.
The research method useds qualitative method and the data used is secondary data obtained from books, journals, documents, electronic media, and internet websites. Researcher used the perspective of pluralism and the theory of the role of international organizations by Kelly Keate Pease.
The results of this study indicate that WFP has made a significant contribution to reducing hunger and increasing food security in Somalia between 2019 and 2021 through implementing four out of five aspects of the role thery of international organizations. However, the problem of food crisis in Somalia is still far from over. Going forward, Somalia still need continued support and collaboration to address the ongoing challenges of food insecurity in their country.
