Abstract

ABSTRACT

Ciletuh Sukabumi Geopark has officially become a UNESCO Global Geopark area from 17 April 2018-April 2021. Based on the rules, in 2021 UNESCO will revalidate the status of the Ciletuh Sukabumi Geopark to maintain the continuity of UGG. This revalidation aims to fulfill the eligibility of the Ciletuh Geopark to continue to have the status as a UNESCO Global Geopark. Based on this success, this research wants to analyze how Indonesia's public diplomacy efforts revalidate Ciletuh Sukabumi's status as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
This study uses a qualitative method with library research data collection techniques and uses the theory of public diplomacy from Nicholas J. Cull with 5 component indicators, namely: 1.) Listening; 2.) Advocacy; 3.) Cultural Diplomacy; 4.) Exchange Diplomacy; 5.) International Broadcasting.
The results of this study prove that the success of revalidating the status of Ciletuh UNESCO Global Geopark is determined by 5 components of public diplomacy theory, namely: 1.) Listening, namely the ability to hear and promote Ciletuh Geopark events to the international community; 2.) Advocacy, namely working with foreign print media to lead and influence the opinion of the international community on the image of the Ciletuh Geopark; 3.) Cultural Diplomacy, namely through increased promotion of culture to other countries; 4.) Exchange Diplomacy, namely by involving schools and Geopark managers; and 5.) International Broadcasting through TV media.
