RESPON UNI EROPA TERHADAP KENAIKAN TARIF IMPOR BAJA DAN ALUMINIUM AMERIKA SERIKAT

Abstract

This study discusses the European Union's response to the increase in steel and aluminum import tariffs set by the United States. The United States under the leadership of President Donald Trump implemented a policy of protectionism in trade. One of them is in the form of increasing steel and aluminum import tariffs against the European Union
In this study, the author uses qualitative methods by using data sourced from books, journals, articles, mass media and official websites. The perspective used by the author is the perspective of mercantilism with the concept of national interest and the level of analysis of international organizations. The European Union has goals and interests over the United States and vice versa. This interest is used as a guide in making decisions or policies to deal with other countries or international political units.
The results of this study show that the European Union's response to the increase in tariffs on imports of steel and aluminum from the United States is to carry out rebalancing measures in the form of setting tariff policies on products from the United States and providing definitive protection for certain steel categorie.
