Abstract

The United States get benefits in economically and socially from foreign students studying there. Islamophobia has pushed the issuance of a travel ban policy (executive order) that limit the entry of people from seven Muslim-majority countries in the world, namely Iraq, Iran, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen. This study will analyze the positive and negative impacts of policies aimed to protect the security of the US state in the economic dan social. This study uses the constructivism perspective of Alexander Wendt, who sees the state as the main actor in world politics. To answer the positive and negative impacts in the economic and social, we will analyze documents (document analysis) from books, journals, official government reports, news on social media, and linkedin. The results show the negative impact of this policy was that students had to bear the costs about twice as much as before, they also had to receive bad treatment in their social life (hampered aksesibility), and in the end disrupted their mental psychology. While the positive impact is that the US has the opportunity to show its influence, honor and superiority in the international world.
