Abstract


West Sumatra, which is famous for its abundant natural resources, can also be interpreted as , which is rich in natural resources. The people of West Sumatra have a diverse range of livelihoods that meet all the needs of communities. People's livelihoods are usually based on the area in which the community lives. B. In coastal areas people make their living as fishermen, whereas in the plains people usually make their living as traders, farmers, etc. For example, in Ampek Ankek district of Agam district, people make their living as traders and farmers, and in Balai Gula village people, many people work as clothing merchants in Aur Kuning and Atebkittinggi markets. It is This study uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Changes in employment patterns in Nagari Balai Gula Municipality are rapidly becoming visible with the development of the Covid-19 epidemic in Indonesia starting to have a significant impact on the municipality's economy.
