DIPLOMASI INGGRIS TERHADAP INDONESIA DALAM MEWUJUDKAN VISI GLOBAL BRITAIN

Abstract

This research analyses the form of British diplomacy towards Indonesia in realizing Britain's Global Vision. The Global Britain Vision is a vision adopted by Britain after “Britain Exit” and a form of Britain's determination to adapt as a country that is no longer part of the European Union and to face the dynamics of international politics. Indonesia, as the UK's key partner country, has several strategic values, namely the similarity of the adopted values, strategic geographical location and population demographics, economy development and Indonesia's membership in several international organizations.
This research uses a qualitative method, with data collection techniques through literature studies sourced from books, official government websites, reports related to cooperation and news articles. This research uses the perspective of Liberalism and the theory of Public Diplomacy with the level of country analysis.
The results of this research indicate that the form of diplomacy used by Britain towards Indonesia in realizing the vision of Global Britain is competitive public diplomacy. This can be seen from the focus of diplomacy leading to bilateral cooperation in several fields of cooperation, namely the economic sector, security and terrorism fields as well as technology & environment. The dimension used by the Britain is the relationship building dimension through several activities, namely: conducting diplomatic visits, organizing virtual forums, utilizing digital communication facilities which is social media, as well as building cooperation in the framework of solving global issues such as in handling the COVID 19 pandemic and organizing Chevening scholarships.
