The data contained in the results of this research are processed from various journals, theses and dissertations, books, and several online articles.China provides a great deal of economic aid and political assistance to Cambodia. China is also one of the countries that has pushed for reconciliation in Cambodia after the civil war. In addition, China became a country that continued to provide economic assistance to Cambodia, when Western countries decided to temporarily suspend economic assistance to Cambodia due to security issues. From a political perspective, Cambodia provides the assistance China needs in dealing with the South China Sea problems with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries. Cambodia's big role in supporting China's resolution on the South China Sea makes ASEAN fail to come up with a joint resolution against China. Keywords: China, Cambodia, role, economic assistance, South China Sea, ASEAN
