INDONESIAN STRATEGY IN FACING DUMPING IRON STEEL IMPORTS FROM TIONGKOK OF 2018 (CASE STUDY OF PT KRAKATAU STEEL)

Abstract


The factor of this study is to analyze Indonesia's strategy in dealing with dumping of iron steel imports from China in 2018 which will affect the national steel industry such as PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. China and Indonesia have cooperated in the import of steel and iron. However, there are dumping practices by China of steel products that are detrimental to Indonesia, especially in the national steel industry. The Indonesian government immediately carried out protectionism against the national steel industry.

This study uses a descriptive qualitative method using analysis documents, namely by collecting data from books, journals, websites, dictionaries, and final reports from PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk and various information from the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia and The Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee regarding Indonesia's efforts and strategies towards dumping imports of steel from China. The level of analysis I use is the nation state, and the theory used is the theory of protectionism in the perspective of mercantilism.

The results of this study indicate that Indonesia extended the imposition of Anti Dumping Import Duty (BMAD) until 2024 for H section and I section steel products from China, listed in the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 24 in 2019 set on 18 March 2019, and revising the Regulation of the Minister of Trade No. 110 of 2018 concerning Provisions on the Import of Iron and Steel, Alloy Steel and its Derivative Products, which includes supervision of imported steel supervision in broder schemes through logistic centers (PLB) as a form of protection carried out by the Indonesian government for the national steel industry. The Indonesian government also began to standardize SNI for local steel
