PENGALAMAN KOMUNIKASI ETNIS TIONGHOA DALAM MENJALIN HUBUNGAN DENGAN PRIBUMI DI KOTA PEKANBARU
Abstract
The city of Pekanbaru is a place that has a variety of ethnicities, one of which is Chinese, they live and even settle, there are also some who do business in the city of Pekanbaru. So that the ethnic Chinese gradually mingled and established relationships with local communities in the city of Pekanbaru. most ethnic Chinese who have relations with Indigenous people do not get the blessing, because they have different cultural backgrounds, religions, and also stereotypes towards other cultures. These stereotypes are the most problematic and issues that block the relationship between the ethnic Chinese and the Indigenous people. In the context of intercultural relations, stereotypes can influence a family's assessment of someone who will be a life companion. So strong is the family relationship in Chinese ethnicity, so that family opinion is always a consideration for making decisions. Many of the ethnic Chinese who were shunned by their families, were not considered children, were even exiled when they preferred to establish relations with the Natives rather than fellow ethnic Chinese. This study uses qualitative research methods with a phenomenological approach. The research subjects were six ethnic Chinese people who had a relationship with the Indigenous people, who were selected using the snowball sampling technique. Data collection is done through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques use the Miles and Hubermen models. To achieve data validity, researchers used an extension of participation and triangulation. The results of the study showed that Chinese ethnic motifs related to the Indigenous people consisted of motives which included the character of the couple, feeling comfortable with the Indigenous, and the economy and business. and in order to motive include feeling like being recognized and accepted, commitment, building a happy household. While the meaning of intercultural relations is divided into two categories of mutual respect for other cultures, cultural diversity. The experience of pleasant communication consists of, (1) being more open to partners, (2) harmony, (3) feeling close to family and unpleasant communication, (1) not blessed by parents, (2) feeling alienated.
