MOTIVASI ORANGTUA MENYEKOLAHKAN ANAK DISABILITAS DI EKOLAH LUAR BIASA PELITA HATI KECAMATAN TAMPAN KOTA PEKANBARU

Abstract


This research conducted in SLB Pelita Hati in parents who have children with disabilities. The purpose of this study was to determine parental characteristics and parents' motivation to send children with disabilities in SLB Pelita Hati kecamatan Tampan Pekanbaru. This study was conducted on 4 parents, 4 teachers, and 1 psychologist. Data collection techniques used using observation and interviews. This study uses qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The research found that the motivation that encourages the four parents who have disabilities to send to school consists of intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is that they are not pessimistic about the condition of their children motivated to send their children to school in the special school, and for the extra-physical motivation researchers found some parents' motivation to send children with disabilities in SLB Pelita Hati that is; (1) advice from friends, (2) advice from psychologists, (3), (4) motivated school fees that are affordable for parents. this study found the role of the teacher who taught at SLB Pelita Hati namely (1) able to provide teaching that is appropriate to the needs and abilities of children with disabilities This study also looked at the motivation of parents from the role of psychologists in children with disabilities, where psychologists have a very important role in diagnosing children with disabilities namely diagnosing to know what children have needs and helping parents to send their children to school, and psychologists find parental obstacles in sending children with disabilities, parents who still do not want to send their children to SLB, because parents feel ashamed of themselves and the community.
