Abstract


The research to describe the communication and coordination of the department of
transportation made in improving service in the field of urban transportation. The focus of
this issue see how the mechanisms that have been carried out the transportation department
and the traffic unit in communication and coordination. Are there any barriers in
communication and coordination that has been done, can be searched appropriate
recommendations to address these issues. In Pekanbaru mayor regulation number 17 of 2008
about the details of functions and working procedures of the Department of Communication
and Information neighbor explained that where the public service, especially for the field of
public transport. One of the points of Mayor Regulation Number 17 of 2008 which lead and
coordinate all activities of the officers and staff offices. That in conducting the affairs of
government in serving the public need for communication and coordination between the
Department of Transportation is Information Communication and Traffic unit pekanbaru
city.
This research using Fayol, Koontz and O'Donnell theory, where in it there are four
indicators: 1. Communication. 2. Cooperation. 3. Division of tasks. 4. Conference and
meeting. The type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods, its purpose is
to analyze and describe the communication and coordination of transport sector provision of
public services.
The results of research in the field stating that the communication and coordination
has been carried out the transportation department and the traffic unit has not been optimal.
In coordinating the transportation department should pay more attention to implementation
of the objectives, so that meeting participants receive appropriate guidance to the creation of
two-way communication. Coordination is still constrained by problems such as
communications made ineffective, coordination has not been implemented, so that between
those who give and receive the policy are not well coordinated.
